One alternative practitioner told me that sensitivity to allergins is the key to asthma. In this alternative approach, each of us has some tolerance to each of the factors in our environment. Saturation can elevate our sensitivity to (our intolerance of) some of these factors. When we go above a tolerance threshold (when we can no longer tolerate) a particular environmental factor, we start to have symptoms which we consider to be illness.
Tolerance/Intolerance Threshold
Above this threshold, all of these individual sensitivity reactions begin working together to make you more sensitive. We become more sensitivite to many more things. Stress makes us even more sensitive (more intolerant) to more factors. Everything we are sensitive to starts to act like a toxin in our body. Our body begins to exaggerate the reactions to any of these factors and begins to add even more factors to the list of factors which it thinks are toxins.
What Can Be Done About This?
The first thing to do is identify every environmental factor which the body thinks is a toxin. This practitioner has a technology which permits that identification to happen over the phone. After all of those are identified, you eliminate all these things you cannot tolerate from your environment. This begins the process of reducing the saturation. This can be helped by applying a treatment that is determined for every one of the factors to which we are reacting. This treatment only takes a few seconds. The effect of this treatment is to temporarily raise the threshold for that particular factor in your environment. The result is that you obtain an immediate reduction in your body’s reaction to that particular fractor. The accumulated effect of doing this for many of the factors causing you trouble, is that you feel an immediate reduction in your symptoms.
What Kinds of Things Can Cause These Reactions?
For everyone the list of things to which the person reacts is different. Generally, it will be things the person touches, eats, or breathes. It could be foods. It could be household chemicals used to clean. It could be candy or drinks. It could be types of materials like certain plastics or types of cloth. It could by air fresheners or cologne. It could be toothpaste or the bar soap or the shampoo. For each person the list is unique. You will not find these listed in some book or webpage. You must be tested to find your unique set of toxins.
Fine Tuning
At this point you have found some relief of your symptoms. But, many of the things you used or you ate in your normal life have been identified as part of your problem. So, you start your search for alternatives. You start a trial-&-test process to find what alternatives you can use to replace many of those things which you eliminated. Some of those things you are trying are found to be okay for you and others are identified as not good for you. Over many sessions, you will have developed an environment to which you do not react. You will have created a new environment to which you do not react. You will have made a new life for yourself without your reactions and without your symptoms.
How Long Does This Process Take?
This alternative practitioner told me that the initial testing usually takes about an hour. The results for each item in the person’s list of environmental factors are immediate. For people with intense symptoms, they will have achieved some temporary relief by the end of this initial session to identify their own personal unique list of toxins. They get this relief because they learn and use the temporary treatment with each factor to which they have a strong reaction.
In the next week committed clients clean their home of all the items to which they react badly. They start to feel consistently better and better. Their symtoms disappear. They have weeks without symptoms they used to have every few days. They start to have hope that they can live better than they everr dreamed.
How Long Does This Change Last?
This alternative practitioner told me that this can continue. But, that usually, they start to feel that they have surpassed their problem and they start to eat the foods they learned they could not tolerate. At first there is no reaction, they do not have a return to symptoms. They begin to feel that their body has recovered and they no longer need to restrict their life. They more they return to their old ways, the closer they approach the sensitivity threshold. When their symptoms return, they seem more severe than they remembered from the past. That is usually enough. They have learned their lesson. They return to the toxin free life and their symptoms are gone for good.

Because so many people suffer from asthma allergies, the concern for the quality of the indoor air in apartments or homes has increased. It is important to choose very good air filtration system for your home. Asthma specialists warn that the condition of an asthmatic person depends on the purity of the air and the absence of dust and allergens from heating and air conditioning vents. Moreover, they say that using a professional air filtration system helps asthmatics keep the allergen particles away from their home or office; thus avoiding exposure and a possibly serious attack or crisis.
Precautionary Measures You Can Take
Here are a few more precaution measures or tips, offered by asthma specialists, which should be applied by everyone who has a problem with asthma and even other allergies. More than just the elimination of dust and mold from the house, it is important to avoid household cleaning products that can expose you to allergens. It is a good idea to only buy the products with the asthma-friendly sign; otherwise you will be the one bring the problem into your home.
The pillows and mattresses should all be dust-proof and dust has to be kept away from beds at all cost. Don’t leave the beddings exposed during the day, so use some kind of dust proof bedding to cover the sheets.
Seasons
Spring and summer are great, but for the people who suffer from asthma, these are the allergy seasons. Asthma specialists point out that the only way to avoid allergens is to use the air conditioner to freshen up the air in the house instead of opening the windows. Furthermore, outdoor activities should be monitored carefully, as this is the time when you come in contact with pollen.
Be Prepared
Always be ready for an asthma attack any time and do not panic if you are outdoors when it starts. Keeping calm can reduce the intensity of the attack and you will be able to return to regular activities sooner.
More Safety Measures
There are plenty of other safety measures an asthmatic person could take around the house. For instance, don’t let you guests smoke in the house, even when the air conditioner is turned on. Also, a fireplace is not a good choice, because the tiniest bit of smoke or ash could trigger an asthma attack.
In case you have a pet, asthma specialists recommend that you keep it far from any upholstery items or the bedrooms. Maybe fur or animal dander is not one of the allergens that bother you, but it could be at any time. Also, animal hair is a good place for dust to accumulate.

Statistics in the last 30 years have shown us that child asthma problems have increased by 160% since the 80s. At present (2007) no less than five million children in the USA suffer from this problem. This is more than 5% of the population under 18. The National Asthma Education and Prevention Program has been organized and developed over the years, in an effort to prevent asthma problems and to help children, who are suffering from asthma, live a normal life.
Recognition of Possible Asthma
In a nutshell, asthma is an illness that causes persistent respiratory problems, airflow restrictions, and hyper breathing reactions to external stimuli such as allergens. Somewhere between 50% and 80% of child asthma cases are characterized by the development of symptoms before the age of five. Parents are advised to pay attention if their child has repeated difficulties which seem to be common respiratory infections.
Child asthma problems are usually harder to detect in a simple routine doctor’s office visit. If any suspicion exists a medical test should be taken. More than 75% of child asthma cases present some other form of pediatric allergy too. Therefore, many doctors make the connection and also look at the child’s health history, searching especially for allergies and what triggers them. It is quite probable that a reaction repeatedly happens in response to the same stimuli.
Getting Started
Usually child asthma treatments begin with a large dosage of medication for an immediate effect. After the child’s state has been stabilized, the medication is reduced until it reaches the minimum dosage this child needs for avoiding crises. This minimum dosage also helps the child maintain an overall healthy state. Serious investigation is also performed to check the medical records of the other family members.
Education and Paying Attention are Key
The most effective treatments results from the combination of patient education and allergen observation. This provides better avoidance of the symptoms and more precise medical prescriptions which permits the asthma sufferers to avoid normal asthma problems.
Child asthma education should include lessons so the children learn about the importance of respecting the medication and the symptoms that they might suffer. Children must also know about the factors that trigger their symptoms. They must learn which specific ones are problems, and how they should be avoided.
How is Child Asthma Different from the Adult Versions?
The four levels of asthma are differentiated by the intensity of the symptoms. Child asthma is more difficult to treat until a clear diagnosis has been reached. After diagnosis, the same treatments that adults use are applied; the only difference consists in dosage and the intensity of the treatment.

An asthma attack can be defined briefly as a rapid worsening of the normal physical condition of someone who suffers from asthma. Usually after exposure to allergens an attack normally occurs. It intensity can vary from mild irritation to serious symptoms which could cause death. Finding the allergens is the hard part as each person has different stimuli to which he or she reacts. A careful diary must be kept on what one eats, drinks and the places he or she goes in order to determine the causes of an asthma attack. All these variables must be checked after each crisis in an effort to find a repetitive pattern in the circumstances which bring on these attacks.
What happens during these attacks?
The problem looks like this, during any asthma attack bronchoconstriction and inflammation affects the airways. This stops air from entering or exiting your lungs. The body parts responsible for this tightening are the muscles that constrict during allergen exposure. The mucus production on the airways is increased, which narrows the breathing canals even more.
Mild asthma attacks can be self-treated by using the correct medication, and these mild crises can be surmounted without pain. But, the situation can be much worse when severe attacks occur. Even if the person takes some emergency treatment, it might not stop the violent symptoms. During these kinds of episodes, medical help is needed as the person’s life is in danger.
Untreated Asthma
If your asthma attacks are untreated then symptoms can get worse. Without treatment the wheezing can become louder and the frequency of the crises may increase. Untreated symptoms can even progress to the condition known as “silent chest.” If the wheezing disappears many see it as an improvement of the physical condition. But, this is one of the biggest dangers of an asthma attack. This can occur even if there has been no treatment. In this situation, the lungs get so tight that there is no space for air movement. This situation needs fast medical intervention as this, if left untreated, can have lethal results.
Early Signs of an Asthma attack
Recognizing the early signs of an asthma attack is very important. There is no single, specific symptom to watch out for. But troubles like frequent cough, shortness of breath, tiredness or any signs of a cold can start the alarm. Each person reacts differently, so try to remember what happened before your last crisis and see if the symptoms repeat. Thus, you will have your own barometer that can alert you whenever you recognize your set of symptoms.
Even if your symptoms are mild, when you first start noticing them, it is important to seek professional help. When we speak about severe asthma problems you must know that beginning your treatment at the first signs is the best thing to do as asthma symptoms quickly grow in intensity causing extreme pain and anxiety.

What are the most common asthma symptoms?
Not all people who suffer from asthma experience the same set of symptoms; each body structure has a specific kind of reaction and manifestation. A single, overall, general asthma symptom doesn’t exist. Each individual is sensitive to a unique menu of specific stimuli.Historical research into asthma symptoms A classification for asthma-type symptoms was made more than 2,000 years ago, but back then an effective treatment did not exist.
All the historical examples of researches about asthma-like symptoms are based on some individual’s specific, personal observations. In those days doctors had little of our scientific information or methods, and treatments were developed based on suppositions that a certain herb would help. And in our own time, researchers have repeatedly tried to find successful asthma treatments. But, up to now, the only successful treatments they can offer are in preventing crises. Unfortunately asthma is considered incurable, so medicine only helps patients avoid painful moments.
Coughing and wheezing are quite common
The most common asthma symptom is considered “Coughing”. This is the red-flag for the illness. It normally gets worse at night and in the morning, and it is a symptom that can keep a person awake. Wheezing is another common problem for asthmatics. Because of bronchial constriction, the air flow is reduced, causing the person with asthma to make a strange sound when breathing in and out.
Other common symptoms
hest tightness is another general asthma symptom since it touches most of the people who suffer from this disease. Then there is shortness of breath that makes many people uncomfortable and unable to perform physical activities, because this asthma symptom makes them feel as they would have a weight pressing on the chest. As an effect of breath shortness one tries to breathe a lot faster in an attempt to compensate for the negative effects of this deficiency. The shortness of breath problem is a normal thing for most asthmatics. This can be easily treated with proper medication.
About normal treatment
A treatment is correctly formulated after a long survey of the asthma symptoms and an evaluation of the patient’s health state using a series of medical tests. The only way of determining if young children suffer from asthma is to turn to complex investigations and look for family hereditary factors. Children that have asthmatic family-members have increased chances of getting it too. If your child has these kinds of symptoms and normal home remedies are not managing those symptoms, ask your medical practitioner to start the diagnostic process for your child.
Outside the medical paradigm
Many people are not satisfied with how modern medicine deals with asthma. Some think that asthma is psychological (mental/emotional/behavioral) and find that wellness training is helpful. Some think that asthma is controlled by taking certain supplements. Some work to clean the air and water in their home to reduce those asthma-symptom stimuli. Others think that moving their family to a more rural environment is the answer for their children. All of these have been helpful for many thousands of families.
Sensitivity may be the key
A growing number of people have come to an understanding that asthma symptoms are an indication of the sensitivity the asthmatic person has to various environmental factors. The person may not tolerate certain environmental factors, and that continued exposure to those “toxins” are stressing the body in such a way that increased sensitivity is the result. (This initial sensitivity may be what the medical professionals see as the hereditary tendency of asthma.) Understanding this and obtaining your own precise list of those environmental factors which are “toxic” for the asthmatic, provides the family with a plan-of-action which reduces, or in many cases, eliminates asthma attacks. In our Products-Services page, you will find resources for these approaches which are outside the medical paradigm.
